“Automating and unifying the sales process has saved our sales people countless hours and given them the confidence to make winning offers.”

Tuomas Jämsen / Head of project, Mitsubishi Logisnext Europe

Mitsubishi Logisnext Europe Oy (MLE) is a high technology-driven designer, manufacturer and provider of logistic solutions, including a wide portfolio of forklift trucks, automation systems and related solutions and services. Mitsubishi Logisnext Europe, formerly known as Rocla, is developing and globally operating the Rocla family of AGV (automated guided vehicles) solutions. New Things Co enabled the salespeople of Mitsubishi Logisnext to concentrate on customer relationships by creating an easy-to-use always online sales tool for global use across Mitsubishi Logisnext called Easy Layout Tool.

Convincing results - quickly and accurately

Traditionally sales of AGV solutions required a lot of calculation and technical and domain expertise to provide a tailored solution for their customers. Mitsubishi Logisnext Europe had created a proof of concept algorithm with their partner to generate AGV driving routes based on a general floor plan. We at New Things Co extended this algorithm and created an easy to use, always online sales tool for global use across Mitsubishi Logisnext. The Easy Layout tool is a browser based application that enables technical sales people to quickly upload a client’s floor plan and define the needed material flows of the site. From this information, the tool automatically draws a route network between all load handling areas with the dimensions of the selected AGV. An accurate estimation of the number of needed AGVs is calculated for the given material flows. The initial estimation can be further verified by automatically converting the sales case to an actual working system that drives simulated AGVs in the created layout based on the material flows. This enables a very effective way to provide clients with an accurate quote for the AGV system and its performance.

Unified design system and a browser based tool that allows users to upload a floor plan and interactively draw factory layouts very intuitively with convincing automated quote calculation.

Unified design system for all software products

Mitsubishi Logisnext Europe is well known for its great design of forklifts. The same design focus has now been extended to software products as well. Together we created a unified design system for all Mitsubishi Logisnext software to enable a consistent, intuitive and pleasant experience across all digital services. The same user centric approach was taken in designing the Easy Layout Tool. We discussed and workshopped with sales people to find out how they approach a sales case and what are their needs. The development approach is agile and iterative. Achieved results are regularly showcased and feedback is gathered from key users. To enable global availability and seamless updates, the service was created as a web application running on containers in the Azure cloud. It is accessible to all Mitsubishi Logisnext sales staff and authorized partners worldwide. Updates and new features are constantly rolled out as soon as they are ready, allowing all sales people to benefit from improvements immediately.
